MD Air Heating and Cooling Designing ventilation systems

Designing ventilation systems

The comfort of occupants depends on the parameters of the ventilation system. If the design is not done correctly, it is not possible to ensure effective performance of the system and bring it to an optimum level.

The basis for projecting is calculating the necessary amount of ventilation in relation to the size of the room and drawing up an estimate. Ventilation design is one of the services we provide. The experience of our specialists allows us to design ventilation systems for small private houses, residential complexes, shopping and entertainment centres, industrial enterprises, social facilities.

Design stages

The basis for the development of the project – terms of reference from the customer. The more accurate it is, the more efficient will be the parameters of the ventilation system. The customer as a part of terms of reference provides the following information:

  • The address of the building, its exact geolocation, orientation towards the cardinal points, sunlight exposure during the day;
  • Purpose of the building and each room in particular;
  • Construction technology: Material used for walls, floors, window and door systems;
  • Heat-emitting appliances and their parameters;
  • Number of people living in the building (for residential units);
  • Number of employees (for businesses), working hours;
  • Visitor traffic (for shopping centres, offices), visiting hours;
  • Additional information.

Based on the data obtained, the design engineers of MD Air Heating and Cooling prepare a detailed design, which includes several important documents:

  • The composition of the equipment;
  • The scheme where the main nodes will be located;
  • Plan of the air duct networks.

During the work, the engineer-designer works through several important stages:

  • Design of the general layout of the ventilation system;
  • Calculation of heat flows from sunlight, lighting, heating and other heat-emitting devices;
  • Calculation of technical and economic indicators, and preparation of detailed estimates.

The specialist takes into account important requirements for drafting the project:

  • Sanitary and epidemiological;
  • Construction and architectural;
  • Fire safety;
  • Operating conditions;
  • Economical;
  • Reliability.

After agreement with the customer and payment (in full or in part), the detailed design is handed over to the installation unit. This stage is the signal to start direct work on the installation of the ventilation system.
